IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT REQUESTING REPEAT PRESCRIPTIONS
If you usually request your repeat prescription by using our phone line, we regret to inform you we will be withdrawing this service from 1st December 2019. We know that many people find it very useful, so we feel we owe you an explanation.
The practice processes 160-180 requests for repeat prescriptions every day and the majority of these come via the voicemail. Recently we have become aware that, due to a technical issue related to the voicemail that cannot be rectified, 1-2 of these requests ‘disappear’ from the system and are not processed. We apologise if this has affected you. We agree it has not been a satisfactory situation.
In addition, the amount of work involved by our administration team to process voicemail requests, compared to patients requesting their own repeats either on-line from patientaccess.com or via the smartphone NHS app is considerable. This system allows you to directly go into your own medical record and request your repeat. It is both more efficient and less prone to error. In light on the ever-increasing demands for GP services, we really need to work as efficiently as we possibly can, even if this means some initial inconvenience and upheaval.
As 1st December is less than 3 months away, we recommend you set up your patient access as soon possible. All information can be found on our website through this link http://www.locksidemedical.co.uk/prescriptions1.aspx?t=1
We are here to help. If you need support with setting this up we will be holding an Open day on the Thursday 17th October between 13:30 -16:00. We will show you how to get set up on your smartphone and also create an account to use on your computer at home.
What you need:
- Valid form of ID (without this you won’t be able to set up an account)
- Pre-set up personal email (without this you won’t be able to set up an account)
- Smartphone (required only if you intend to use the mobile app)
Many thanks for your understanding
